In-Between is a research project in collaboration with three collaborators. The project explores the relationship between distance, presence, writing and dance through one-to-one letter writing and the exchange of word instructions (score). The concept originates from dance scholar André Lepecki’s article “Inscribing Dance”, which examines the historical and philosophical relationship between dance and writing. The term choreo/graphing—etymologically linked to both “dance” and “writing”—serves as a key reference for the project.
The correspondence from the process was documented, categorised and edited by myself, then published on a dedicated website, providing a platform to share these dialogues publicly from 2023 to 2024. The project culminated in a public online sharing session as part of the #Danceless Complex 2023 festival, organized by Unlock Dancing Plaza (Hong Kong).
