In this space where everything disappears and converges, one may find closeness and belonging.
When the notion of “home”—tied to a specific place—begins to dissolve, longing to Be explores how one can interweave the past and the present, and find belonging in memory through dance. The piece can be perceived as a trilogy, blending the technicality of media with dance practices in relation to Henri Bergson’s idea of memory as a continuous flow of images. As a whole, it is an honest confrontation about the incapability to say something about “there” in “here.” It is a reconciliation between the artist and dance—moving beyond doubt about dance’s fleeting nature toward an embrace of its unique temporality, drawing a parallel line between the disappearance of a place into memory and the fading of a dance into memory.
